The Kaua‘i District Health Office (KDHO) is inviting the public to an open house on Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. as part of National Public Health Week. The event will take place on Umi Street, located across the elections building and adjacent to the Central Pacific Bank building. This open house is a unique opportunity for the community to interact with Hawai‘i State Department of Health staff about programs and actions that can help address public health challenges.

Dr. Janet Berreman, Kaua‘i District Health Officer, shared her excitement about the event, saying, “National Public Health Week is an excellent opportunity for the public to learn more about the many programs and services that the Department of Health offers to improve the well-being of our community members. We are grateful for our community’s ongoing support in helping us build a healthier Kaua‘i.”

During the open house, attendees will have the chance to meet with representatives from high schools, including health academies, senior citizen clubs, Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami, members of the Kaua‘i County Council, the governor’s liaison, and Kaua‘i’s legislative team. They will also have access to information about public health career and educational opportunities provided by Department of Health professionals such as vector control specialists, administrative services personnel, community health workers, public health nurses, epidemiologists, mental health professionals, food safety inspectors, disabilities case managers
