Nu:ionic Technologies’ MCR™ Technology: The Future of Efficient Hydrogen Production

Nu:ionic Technologies’ CEO, Jan Boshoff, has announced that the company’s microwave catalyst reforming (MCR™) technology is the most efficient way to convert energy into hydrogen. This technology utilizes renewable electricity to power the reforming of gas feedstocks such as methane and biogas. With this potential solution for distributed-scale low-carbon hydrogen production, Nu:ionic Technologies is optimistic about its future in the hydrogen industry.

After successfully running a continuous 48-hour demonstration of its 100kW unit in March 2024, Nu:ionic Technologies plans to deploy two demonstration units. The successful outcome of this demonstration has brought the company closer to commercializing their MCR technology. CEO Boshoff stated that this milestone marks an important step forward in Nu:ionic Technologies’ journey towards revolutionizing the production of hydrogen in a more efficient and sustainable manner.
