Newark Liberty International Airport’s Terminal A has been recognized as the world’s best new airport terminal by Skytrax, a global airport evaluation firm. This prestigious accolade was awarded to Terminal A less than a month after receiving a five-star rating from Skytrax, which audited the terminal’s facilities, operations, and customer service.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey recently announced that they have received this honor for the second consecutive time. Governor Phil Murphy expressed his pride in the recognition, calling it a well-deserved honor for the ongoing redevelopment efforts at Newark Liberty International Airport.
LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal B was named the best terminal in 2023, making these two airports the only ones in North America to have received the highest Skytrax rating. The evaluation process for the award included surveys to passengers regarding various aspects of terminal facilities, staff service, check-in, arrivals, transfers, security, customs, and shopping.
Terminal A officially opened in 2023 after the closure of the 50-year-old former Terminal A. The $2.7 billion investment in the new terminal represents the Port Authority’s largest-ever single investment in New Jersey, as well as the state’s largest design-build project. This investment is part of a larger $30 billion project to transform major airports in the New York and New Jersey metro area. The next phase of this ambitious endeavor will involve the redesign of Newark’s airport Terminal B.
