New Kauppalehti Brussels Correspondent Kreeta Karvala Joins Esteemed Editorial Team

Kauppalehti, a major Finnish newspaper, has appointed Kreeta Karvala as their next Brussels correspondent. Currently working in the politics and editorial department of Iltalehti, Karvala will take on the new role in November. She is excited and grateful for the opportunity to join Kauppalehti’s esteemed editorial team.

Karvala is an experienced news reporter who has worked at Yleisradio and Iltalehti. She is a familiar face on TV current affairs programs where she analyzes Finnish politics. Editor-in-chief Riina Nevalainen was pleased to have her join the team, citing her experience and qualifications. Throughout her career, Karvala has won several journalistic awards, including the Suomen Kuvalehti Journalism Award in 2023.

As the new Brussels correspondent, Karvala will cover EU decision-making, the European economy, monetary policy, and EU institutions. Current topics of interest include defense and security policy, NATO, Ukraine support, climate policy, and Europe’s competitiveness in the face of economic competition. The monetary policy of the European Central Bank also impacts the lives and finances of all Finns.
