In Pensacola, the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition is excited to announce the opening of its new healthcare, resilience, and performance research complex. The ceremony took place on South Alcaniz Street and featured dedicated spaces for clinical and applied sciences, as well as wet laboratories for cellular and molecular science.
According to CEO Ken Ford, this new facility will enable IHMC to conduct research at all levels, from single molecules to entire human populations. With engineers and scientists working together, the institution will have the capability to explore the relationships between humans and machines in a holistic manner.
The state-of-the-art facility, which cost $40 million and spans 40,000 square feet, is a testament to IHMC’s commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and innovation. This new research complex will provide the resources and space necessary for groundbreaking discoveries and advancements in various fields of study.
IHMC’s healthcare research will focus on developing new technologies that can improve patient outcomes in areas such as neuroprosthetics, brain implants, and cognitive enhancement. The institute’s resilience research will explore how individuals can adapt to stressors and develop strategies for bouncing back from adversity. And its performance research will investigate how technology can enhance human abilities in areas such as sports performance
