In recent news, Community High School District 99 in Downers Grove, IL has welcomed two new members to its team. Robert Godinez has been hired as the new dean of Downers Grove South High School, bringing nearly a decade of experience working in various roles within the Chicago Public Schools system. Prior to joining District 99, Godinez served as resident principal at Carver Military Academy High School and assistant principal at Peace & Education Coalition Alternative High School and Farragut Academy.
Meanwhile, Philip Howard has joined the District 99 team as the new chief technology officer, bringing nearly 25 years of experience to the role. Howard previously worked at Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95 as their executive director of technology and spent almost a decade at Elgin Community College.
Dr. Travis McGuire, the assistant superintendent for learning resources at District 99, praised Howard’s expertise in using technology for teaching, learning, and operational efficiency. He noted that Howard’s impact will be valuable in the ever-evolving technological landscape.
In a news release, Godinez expressed his commitment to effective and inspirational leadership, emphasizing empathy, equity, collaboration, and ongoing professional development. His experience is expected to contribute positively to the district’s current and future plans for technology integration.
