Gap Inc announced this week that Sven Gerjets has joined the company as Chief Technology Officer, bringing nearly seven years of experience from his previous role at Mattel. During his time at Mattel, Gerjets was responsible for overseeing technology and innovation, managing shared tech platforms, AI, software and hardware development, blockchain, and connected product design. He also took the lead on data security and privacy initiatives for the toymaker.
In a message to employees, Gap Inc CEO Richard Dickson highlighted the importance of strengthening the company’s technology platform as they continue to expand their portfolio of brands, which includes Athleta, Old Navy, Banana Republic, and Gap. Dickson emphasized the need for the technology portfolio and digital roadmap to support the revitalization of the brands and foster deeper connections with customers.
Gerjets will report directly to Dickson, who has himself made the transition from Mattel to Gap Inc. Dickson previously served as the company’s operating chief before taking on the role of president and CEO in 2023. Prior to his time at Mattel, Gerjets held the position of CIO at Time Warner Cable
