J.B. Bickerstaff is back in the NBA, taking over as the new head coach of the Detroit Pistons. He was let go by the Cavaliers five weeks ago but has quickly found a new home with the Pistons, replacing Monty Williams. The NBA coaching carousel continues to turn, with Bickerstaff stepping in to lead the Detroit team.
During his successful tenure with the Cavaliers, where he led the team to two consecutive playoff appearances, Bickerstaff will now take on the challenge of improving the Pistons. His hiring marks the first major move by Trajan Langdon, the team’s new president of basketball operations.
Langdon and Bickerstaff have their work cut out for them as they aim to improve the Pistons after a disappointing 14-68 season, the worst in franchise history. Bickerstaff will be Detroit’s third coach in as many seasons, following a challenging season under Williams. The team’s performance under Williams did not meet expectations after he signed a lucrative coaching contract.
As Bickerstaff takes over as head coach, fans and analysts alike are eager to see if he can turn things around for Detroit and help them climb back to competitiveness in the NBA. With only 14 wins last season,
