Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a call to the Indian cricket team on June 30th to congratulate them on their T20 World Cup win. During the conversation, Mr. Modi commended Rohit Sharma for his excellent leadership as captain and his impressive T20 career. He also praised Virat Kohli for his outstanding performance in the final match and his significant contribution to Indian cricket. Both players announced their retirement from T20 internationals after the victory.
Mr. Modi recognized Hardik Pandya’s exceptional performance in the final over, as well as Suryakumar Yadav’s remarkable catch on the boundary line that dismissed David Miller. Jaspreet Bumrah’s contribution was also highlighted by the Prime Minister during the call. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to coach Rahul Dravid for his role in Indian cricket’s success.
