Agriculture is a growing sector in the economy nationwide, and this growth is especially prominent in Mississippi. According to the 2024 edition of “Feeding the Economy,” America’s food and agriculture sector has seen a growth of over a trillion dollars since the 2023 report.
The report highlights that the economic impact of Food and Agriculture in Mississippi is valued at $80.5 billion. This sector also accounts for more than 400,000 jobs in the state, with nearly 218,000 of those being direct jobs. In addition to providing employment opportunities, the industry has paid out more than $18 billion in total wages and has exported over a billion dollars in goods through Mississippi ports.
