Despite an early setback, Quinton de Kock continued his fine form and combined with Tristan Stubbs to put on a partnership of 58 runs off just 38 balls. This was followed by Jasprit Bumrah making an impact early on in the South Africa innings by dismissing Reeza Hendricks with a perfect delivery in the second over.
Unfortunately for South Africa, Stubbs was bowled by Axar Patel for 31, bringing Heinrich Klaasen to the crease with the team still needing over 100 runs to win. De Kock’s valiant effort came to an end when he was caught by Kuldeep Yadav off Arshdeep’s bowling for 39 runs. This wicket dealt a blow to South Africa’s chase as they struggled to keep up with the required run rate.
