Ammunition Purchase Contract Signed by Eyal Zamir
Eyal Zamir, the Director General of the Ministry of Defense, has signed a contract for the purchase of large quantities of ammunition for the ground forces from Elbit Maarahot concern. This contract is set to last for several years and has a cost of 2.8 billion shekels. The production of the ammunition will take place at Elbit’s factories in Israel.
The Ministry of Defense has been actively working to reduce its dependence on foreign suppliers and has placed orders worth around 40 billion shekels with Israeli manufacturers since the start of the war. As a result, defense enterprises are currently operating at an intensive pace to meet these demands.
In light of this urgent need for ammunition, the Ministry of Defense has requested that the Land Administration postpone the dismantling of the Elbit plant in Ramat Hasharon for one and a half years. This move will allow production to continue at both the current plant and at the new Negev location to ensure that there is enough ammunition available to meet military needs.
