Michelle Obama, the former first lady of the United States, has revealed that her daughters, Sasha and Malia, are unlikely to follow in their father’s footsteps and pursue careers in politics. In an interview with Oprah, Michelle stated that she never expressed any interest in politics herself and only supported her husband’s decision to run for office.
At a recent fundraiser for President Joe Biden, former president Barack Obama shared that his daughters were not interested in pursuing political careers. He commented that Michelle had made sure to keep them away from the world of politics. Malia Obama, the older of the two sisters, is currently focusing on a career in screenwriting and directing. She recently premiered a short film at the Sundance Film Festival.
Malia has previously interned on Lena Dunham’s show and the Weinstein Company, and worked on the production of Halle Berry’s TV series. She also wrote for a show produced by Donald Glover. Her younger sister, Sasha, graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in sociology in 2023. Both Michelle and Barack have expressed their support for their daughters pursuing their own paths outside of politics.
