In March 2026, LoanDepot Park in Miami will play host to the finals of the World Baseball Classic, it was announced by Major League Baseball. The other three venues for the tournament will be the Tokyo Dome in Japan, Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Minute Maid Park in Houston. The semifinals will be held in Miami and Houston, marking the first time these cities will host WBC games.
The World Baseball Classic has been gaining popularity among American fans since its debut in 2006. Japan has emerged as a dominant force in the competition, winning three out of the five tournaments. In the most recent edition, Japan secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Team USA, with Shohei Ohtani striking out his Angels teammate Mike Trout to clinch the win. Teams that finished in the top four of each of the four pools in the 2023 tournament have already qualified for the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
