Medical Crisis: Ramat Gan Shuts Down Shuttle Buses, Leaving Patients at a Loss

Recently, the Ramat Gan municipality has blocked shuttle buses from entering the Sheba Medical Complex due to noise complaints from local residents. This has resulted in three bus lines that typically passed through the hospital complex being forced to change their routes. According to Sheba Hospital officials, they believe that the municipality has taken Sheba patients hostage.

The situation arose after residents of Kiryat Krinitsa protested against the Katzir bus terminal, claiming that it was created without proper planning and operates with numerous violations. The municipality responded by installing barriers to prevent buses from passing through the terminal without notifying the Ministry of Transport or the bus service company, Dan.

As a result of this action, patients and employees are forced to disembark outside the hospital and either walk or use wheelchairs to reach the medical center. The Ministry of Transport is considering allocating a new space for buses in the south of Tel Hashomer while waiting for permits from the municipality to construct temporary structures.

Both parties involved are blaming each other for the current situation. While Ramat Gan officials claim that they acted on legitimate noise complaints, hospital officials argue that this has made it difficult for patients who rely on public transportation to access care.

In conclusion, this conflict highlights how difficult it can be for municipalities and hospitals to balance competing interests when it comes to transportation infrastructure. While noise complaints may be valid, it’s important to consider how these actions may affect those who rely on public transportation most heavily – including patients seeking medical care.
