The Courier Journal has announced its nominees for boys athlete of the week, featuring top performers in baseball and lacrosse. The poll is currently open and will close at 6 p.m. on Thursday, with the winner being announced on Friday. In baseball, Manual junior Nicholas Ballard led his team to a 9-0 victory over Shelby County with a complete game pitched, striking out eight and giving up only two hits. Fern Creek senior Colin Knoop also had an impressive performance, allowing no hits and striking out six in a four-inning win against Whitefield Academy. He also hit a home run and had three hits, driving in five RBIs. DeSales sophomore Louis Lindgren helped secure a 9-7 victory over Shelby County in lacrosse with three goals and one assist. He also contributed defensively with three groundballs and two takeaways.
In addition, Bullitt East junior Garrison Miller pitched a no-hit game and struck out seven in a three-inning win against Jeffersontown, while Eastern junior Carson Shee had an outstanding week at the plate, collecting five hits, including a home run, and driving in seven runs in wins over Elizabethtown, Meade County, and Male.
