LSU is in a good position to land the blue-chip defensive end, Damien Shanklin, after hosting him for an official visit this past weekend. Shanklin shared with On3’s Steve Wiltfong that everything about the visit was great and filled with positive energy. Both Wiltfong and On3’s Billy Embody are now predicting that Shanklin will commit to LSU for the 2025 class, according to On3’s Prediction Machine. The Tigers currently sit in second place with a 43.1% chance of landing Shanklin, with Notre Dame leading at 49.2%. However, LSU fans have reason to be optimistic as they face competition from schools like Tennessee and Ohio State.
Standing close to 6-foot-5 and weighing 215 pounds, Shanklin is highly regarded by all four major recruiting services as a four-star recruit. He is ranked as the fifth-best edge rusher in his class and the top recruit in Indiana by 247Sports. Despite not being a common recruiting ground for LSU, Shanklin’s potential commitment could be a result of Brian Kelly’s connections to the state.
