Long Beach Vandal: Smashed Windows and Shuttered Businesses Leave Neighborhood Feeling Vulnerable

1 min read

A man has been arrested in Long Beach for vandalizing numerous cars and shops along a well-known road. According to the Long Beach Police Department, more than 25 cars and seven businesses were damaged in the East Village area. On a Friday morning, officers responded to reports of smashed windows in businesses and cars parked in a parking structure near a Chase bank.

A building manager in the area stated that a surveillance camera from an apartment complex captured footage of the vandalism. This incident was not the first of its kind, as the manager explained that similar events have been happening for the past three years. Another building manager, Joe Harding, said that broken windows and businesses shutting down for the night have become a common occurrence in the area. People in the neighborhood are constantly worried about being victims of vandalism and often check for any possible security footage to assist with insurance claims.

The Long Beach Police Department confirmed that one person was arrested for the vandalism but did not provide further details about the suspect or the charges they may be facing.
