An 8-year-old girl from Indiana who recently won an award for her drone footage at the AZDroneFest International Film Festival has now earned a Guinness World Record as the world’s youngest drone videographer. Louisa Royer, a third-grader at Evansville Day School, started filming with her drone during trips to various countries. Her teacher encouraged her to submit her footage to film festivals which led to her winning the 2023 Best New Drone Pilot Award.

Despite the challenges of safely flying the drone in different countries and being aware of her surroundings to avoid obstacles, she persevered. She mentioned that watching videos on YouTube inspired her to pursue a Guinness World Record title after seeing a 13-year-old boy using drones for mapping. At the age of 8 years and 258 days, Louisa Royer became the youngest female drone videographer in the world, officially recognized by Guinness World Records. She expressed her excitement and gratitude upon receiving her certificate, sharing that her friends and family are very proud of her.

Louisa’s journey showcases her passion for exploring new ways of capturing the world around her through drone videography. She shared that she asked for a drone as a gift because she loves science and thought it would be a fun way to explore the world from a different perspective. Her love for science and exploration led Louisa to take up droning as a hobby, and she quickly became proficient at it despite facing several challenges along the way.
