The Italian football club Lazio is in talks with Manchester United about the transfer of Mason Greenwood, who spent last season on loan at Getafe. According to Il Messaggero, the Serie A side has expressed interest in the English striker, and its CEO Claudio Lotito is eager to sign him. The initial contact between the two clubs was established a few weeks ago and has progressed into more concrete discussions.
Lotito is willing to stretch the club’s financial resources to make the transfer happen. The current market value of Greenwood is €40 million, and Lotito has proposed an offer of €18 million plus a 50% future resale percentage to Manchester United. However, United does not seem satisfied with this offer.
As a result, Lazio is now considering including goalkeeper Christos Mandas in the deal along with the €18 million fee, as the club values Mandas at €18 million. On the other hand, United is currently only interested in a cash transaction for Greenwood.
The upcoming hours will be crucial in determining if other clubs will enter the bidding war for Greenwood or if he will be transferred to Lazio. It remains to be seen which club will sign him or if he will remain at Manchester United next season.
