LaFayette’s Community Health and Wellness Center: Bridging the Rural Health Disparity Gap with a $15,000 Grant and New Pavilion Project

The Chambers County Community Health and Wellness Center (CCCHWC) recently celebrated the completion of a new pavilion project with the help of a $15,000 grant from the Coosa Valley Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Council. Representatives from the RC&D Council held a plant and seed giveaway to mark the occasion.

The CCCHWC is a collaborative effort between the Chambers County Commission, the city of LaFayette, and Auburn University’s Rural Outreach Project. Its primary goal is to address health disparities in rural communities by offering health and wellness information and services. Over the past year, the center has provided various health screenings, programs, and access to medical care through an onsite telehealth station.

The Coosa Valley RC&D grant was awarded in partnership with the city and county to fund the expansion project. During the event, Ciara Turner, the Executive Director of Coosa Valley RC&D, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to support community initiatives. Senator Randy Price highlighted the importance of giving back to rural communities and commended the project’s success in bringing the community together.
