Crystal Palace star winger Michael Olise is reportedly being pursued by Chelsea, according to the Daily Mail. The Blues have been interested in the 22-year-old attacker for some time and had tried to sign him last year. However, Olise opted to stay with Palace and extended his contract with the club.
Despite their previous unsuccessful attempt, Chelsea is still keen on Olise and has reignited their pursuit of the talented player. In the 2020/21 season, Olise had an impressive performance where he scored ten goals and provided six assists in just 19 Premier League appearances. His goal-scoring rate of 0.64 per 90 puts him in the top percentile among wingers in Europe’s top five leagues. He also demonstrated great creativity and defensive work rate on the pitch.
Palace values Olise at £60 million, but Chelsea is trying to determine the exact release clause in his contract. Manchester United is also interested in signing Olise as they look to strengthen their squad for next season. However, financial constraints may hinder United’s ability to secure a deal as they only have £50 million available for transfers this summer.
Chelsea, with their financial strength, is better positioned to sign Olise and is eager to bring him back to the club where he once trained in the academy before joining other clubs before finally landing at Crystal Palace last year.
