Gone Too Soon: The Tragic Death of Kevin, the Tallest Male Dog in the World

2 min read

A Great Dane named Kevin, who had recently been crowned the world’s tallest male dog by Guinness World Records, passed away just days after his title was announced. The 3-year-old dog died after falling ill and needing an unexpected surgery. The family of Kevin, who resided in West Des Moines, Iowa, expressed their grief over his loss in a press release issued by GWR.

Kevin stood at 3 feet 2 inches tall at the withers and towered over at 7 feet when standing on his hind paws. Despite his formidable size, Kevin was known to be gentle and affectionate towards those around him. His owner Tracy Wolfe described him as a “funny,” “friendly” and “overly affectionate” pup who would try to fit into small beds like he was mimicking smaller dogs.

Kevin loved to take naps and was also an avid eater, consuming up to 10 cups of food daily while occasionally sneaking food from the kitchen counter. Tracy recounted how Kevin would poop out of fear during his first training class and how he would be scared of many things including the measuring tape used to verify his record, vacuums and even himself.

Tragically, Great Danes like Kevin have relatively short lifespans and typically live between 8-10 years old. After Kevin’s passing, the title of the world’s tallest male dog has once again become vacant following the death of another Great Dane named Zeus who held it before him. However, Kevin’s family will forever cherish memories of their gentle giant as they mourn their loss.

The family had brought him home as a puppy named him after the character from movie “Home Alone” and marveled at how he kept growing until surpassing even their pony in size. Despite being a giant breed, Kevin still tried to fit into small beds and mimic smaller dogs behavior which showed how much he loved them despite his big size.

In conclusion, despite their short lifespan Great Danes like Kevin leave behind a lasting impression on those around them with their big hearts and gentle nature.
