Global Gains: Strengthening Health Systems through Sustainable Investments in Primary Health Care at the G20

On Monday, June 3, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. (Brasilia) // 7:00 a.m (Washington DC or EDT), join us for the G20 Side Event on Sustainable Financing for Primary Health Care: building the foundation of Resilient Health Systems. Hosted by the Alliance for Primary Health Care, this event will explore how G20 countries are enhancing the resilience of their health systems through targeted investments in Primary Health Care (PHC).

The event will consist of two panels, with panel one focusing on country experiences from select G20 countries (Brazil) and invited countries (Chile, Colombia), which are focusing on strengthening health systems based on PHC. The panelists will discuss the steps each country is taking to increase and enhance investments in PHC, including changes in health financing, upgrades to health infrastructure, implementation of digital health technologies, and investments in the health workforce and interprofessional teams to address disparities in access to healthcare at the national and sub-national levels.

The second panel will feature representatives from the Alliance for Primary Health Care, a collaborative effort between PAHO, IDB and World Bank. This panel will discuss how the Alliance supports countries in developing quality investment plans in PHC and reinforcing national health planning based on PHC. The event will be moderated by Mariana Faria, Senior Advisor ERP PAHO.

Panel one on Sustainable Financing for PHC will include participation from the Minister of Health Brazil or delegate, Minister for Health Chile or delegate and Minister for Health Colombia or delegate.
