The German swimmers at the European Championships in Belgrade are determined to continue their quest for medals. On the fifth day of pool competitions, Celine Rieder claimed silver in the 1500 meter freestyle and bronze in the 4×100 meter freestyle mixed relay.
Rieder, who trains under long-distance national coach Bernd Berkhahn, finished with a time of 16:15.98 minutes, just behind Hungary’s Vivien Jackl who took gold. In the same event, Jeannette Spiwoks, another German finalist, finished in fifth place.
In addition to Rieder and Spiwoks’ impressive performances, Hungary also emerged victorious in the 4×100 meter freestyle mixed relay. However, Germany’s quartet consisting of Martin Wrede, Peter Varjasi, Nicole Maier and Nina Sandrine Jazy came in third place with a time of 3:27.01 minutes. They were just 1.32 seconds behind the winning team and 0.48 seconds behind the silver medalists from Poland.
The German swimmers have been delivering strong performances at the championships and fans are eagerly anticipating more medal opportunities as they continue to compete in upcoming events.
