Georgia has landed five-star EDGE Isaiah Gibson, who is the No. 17 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting cycle. Gibson is considered the top-ranked edge rusher in the class and his commitment has helped Georgia move up to the No. 4 class in the recruiting rankings. This puts them behind Ohio State, Alabama, and Notre Dame.
Gibson had previously committed to USC but backed off from that pledge last week. He had an official visit scheduled at Oklahoma over the weekend but decided to cancel it. Gibson also considered Ohio State before ultimately choosing Georgia. With Gibson’s commitment, he becomes the 15th member of Georgia’s 2025 recruiting class, joining other top recruits such as five-star TE Elyiss Williams, five-star linebacker Zayden Walker, four-star edge Darren Ikinnagbon, and four-star LB Jadon Perlotte.
Coach Smart and his staff were actively involved in recruiting Gibson, showing their commitment to him throughout the process. Gibson mentioned that after he committed, Coach Smart reached out to him immediately, along with other members of the coaching staff. Since coach Smart took over in 2015, Georgia has consistently finished in the top-10 in recruiting rankings each year. In 2024, the Bulldogs had a historic recruiting class, landing four five-star defenders. The current 2025 class is on a similar trajectory, aiming to continue Georgia’s success in recruiting top talent.
