A Great Dane named Kevin, after the beloved character from Home Alone played by Macaulay Culkin, has been declared the world’s tallest dog by Guinness World Records. Measuring in at 0.97m (3ft 2in) from his feet to his withers and standing about 7ft tall when on his hind legs, Kevin is a gentle giant who loves to hog the sofa.
Despite his imposing height, Kevin lives peacefully with three other dogs and four cats in West Des Moines, Iowa. His owner, Tracy Wolfe, describes him as a “gentle giant” who is known for making himself less intimidating by crouching and crawling near other dogs. He is also terrified of the family’s vacuum cleaner and will jump and run to avoid it.
Kevin may be large in stature but he manages to keep himself trim and fit with his large appetite. When out in public, he often receives comments like “is that a horse?” and people jokingly ask if he has a saddle. Despite his impressive height, Kevin falls short of the tallest dog ever, Zeus, another Great Dane who measured 1.118m (3ft 8in) and passed away in 2014.
Kevin’s friendly nature and peaceful coexistence with other pets has earned him the title of the world’s tallest dog.
