Dee Dee Taylor is on a mission to improve the mental health of individuals in the Genesee County Jail. Her personal experiences, including the incarceration of her father and the death of her sister, Breonna Taylor, inspired her to take action and make a difference. As founder of Taylor Made Re-entry, she works to provide support and resources to those struggling with mental health issues behind bars.
For many women in the county jail, life has not been kind. But Taylor is determined to provide them with the necessary resources and support to help them improve their mental well-being. Taylor Made Re-entry is a nonprofit organization that partners with the Justice Department to bring mental health resources to incarcerated individuals.
One individual who supports Taylor in her mission is Percy Glover, who understands the challenges of maintaining mental health while incarcerated. With his firsthand experience behind bars and Taylor’s personal experiences, they work together to provide the necessary resources and support for those in jail who are struggling with mental health issues.
Amyre Makupson, a proud Detroit native and graduate of Mercy High School in Farmington Hills, reported on this story. She highlights the importance of organizations like Taylor Made Re-entry that are working to address mental health issues in the criminal justice system.
