As the former US Vice President, Mike Pence believes that Iran is safer following the death of Ebrahim Raisi. Pence highlighted Raisi’s role in the murder of thousands of Iranian political prisoners and the violence and terrorism perpetrated by Iran during his time in power. While some Western countries offered condolences for Raisi’s death, many Iranians celebrated his demise as “The Butcher of Tehran.”
On the other hand, Western politicians condemned the expression of sympathy for Raisi, citing his long history of persecuting dissidents and his involvement in countless executions. In contrast to these criticisms, Pence expressed hope that Raisi’s death would give the people of Iran an opportunity to seek freedom and bring an end to Iran’s history of terror.
