Emma Raducanu, the former US Open champion, will face fellow Briton Katie Boulter in her first WTA semi-final since 2022 after opponent Fran Jones withdrew due to a shoulder injury in the Nottingham Open. Raducanu, who is currently recovering from injury, missed the French Open to focus on her fitness ahead of Wimbledon.
In her run to the last eight in Nottingham, Raducanu defeated Ena Shibahara and Daria Snigur. Meanwhile, British number one Boulter advanced to the semi-finals with a two-set win over Poland’s Magdalena Frech. Boulter is also the defending champion of the tournament and has been playing well throughout the tournament so far.
The day’s play was delayed by bad weather, but eventually resumed with the quarter-final between Tunisian top seed Ons Jabeur and Czech Republic’s Karolina Pliskova. Both players had a tough match and played their hearts out on court. In the end, Jabeur emerged victorious with a three-set win over Pliskova.
Raducanu and Boulter’s semi-final will follow this match on centre court. The two players are both talented and have been playing well throughout the tournament so far. It will be an exciting match that fans will not want to miss. Meanwhile, Diane Parry of France and Australia’s Kimberly Birrell are competing in the final match of the last eight on court one.
