Richard Keogh, a former player with over 300 appearances for Derby County as well as playing for Coventry, Carlisle, and Ipswich, has returned to Blackpool as the first-team coach in Neil Critchley’s backroom staff. Keogh expressed his excitement at returning to Blackpool, where he spent the 2021-22 season as a player. He stated that he is looking forward to striving for success with the team.
Keogh mentioned that he has been working on his coaching badges for several years and feels that now is the right time to transition into coaching. The opportunity to work at Blackpool, a club he feels a strong connection to, is something he is grateful for.
Blackpool finished eighth in League One last season, narrowly missing out on the play-off places. Keogh’s return to the club as a coach adds experience and knowledge to the coaching staff as they aim to improve upon last season’s performance. The 37-year-old brings a wealth of playing experience to his new role and is eager to contribute to the team’s success on the pitch.
