A fire broke out in the Mljet National Park on Tuesday morning, affecting low vegetation and a small area of pine forest. The prompt response and coordinated efforts of the firefighting teams helped prevent the fire from spreading further and causing more damage to the national park.
Members of the Public Fire Brigade (JVP) and DVD Mljet were involved in responding to the fire, along with four fire trucks. The firefighters were able to localize the fire by 6:40 a.m. and fully extinguished it by 7:30 a.m., as reported by the Croatian Fire Association (HVZ).
The challenging terrain made the firefighting intervention more difficult, but the expertise and dedication of the firefighters led to a successful containment of the fire within a short period of time. The Mljet National Park is a valuable natural reserve, known for its unique biodiversity and stunning landscapes. Preserving the park’s natural beauty and protecting it from wildfires is crucial in order to maintain its ecological balance and ensure its sustainability for future generations.
