The Falcons have reportedly signed free agent offensive lineman Jaryd Jones-Smith, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC. Jones-Smith played with the St. Louis Battlehawks in the UFL this past spring and was named to the All-UFL team. He has had stints with several NFL teams including the Dolphins, 49ers, Ravens, Raiders, and Commanders.
Jones-Smith originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent from the University of Pittsburgh in 2018, signing with the Texans. Since then, he has only seen action on two offensive snaps and 27 on special teams in the regular season during his NFL career. However, his experience playing for different teams could provide him with valuable insights and skills that can benefit the Falcons.
The Falcons are in need of depth at tackle behind their starters Jake Matthews, Kaleb McGary, and Storm Norton. Signing Jones-Smith provides them with additional options in case of injuries or other unforeseen situations. He can also bring a fresh perspective to the team’s offense and help improve its overall performance.
