The Dash are not open to trading María Sánchez before the upcoming deadline at the end of the week. Sánchez, who recently signed a record-breaking deal with the National Women’s Soccer League, is now seeking a trade from the team. According to ESPN’s Jeff Kassouf, she has formally requested a trade from the team. The transfer window and trade window will both close on Friday at midnight ET.
Although Sánchez opted for a three-year contract worth up to $1.5 million with restricted free agency last offseason, she has expressed her desire to move on from the team. However, the Dash are hesitant to grant her request citing her existing contract as their reason. Since her contract was signed with the league as well, potential suitors are limited in picking up her deal.
Sánchez has been with the Dash for four years and is a vital player both for the team and the Mexican national team. She has previously played in Liga MX Femenil and even represented Chicago Red Stars.
