Empowering Maine Workers: Launch of Central Maine Community College’s New Manufacturing Technology Short-Term Training Program in Collaboration with General Dynamics Bath Iron Works

At Central Maine Community College (CMCC), a new Manufacturing Technology short-term training program has been launched in collaboration with General Dynamics Bath Iron Works. This innovative program is designed to provide students with the essential skills and hands-on experience required for successful careers in the manufacturing industry.

The program will last for three weeks, with participants attending 40 hours per week, totaling 120 hours of training. Students will receive a $500 attendance incentive each week, and the entire program will be completely free of cost. No prior experience is needed to enroll, making it accessible to everyone.

The curriculum of the training program covers a wide range of topics, including technical math, hand & power tool operation & safety, oxy cutting, track welding, basic layout, material handling, drilling & fastening, and other fundamental manufacturing skills. Upon completion of the program, students will have the opportunity to interview with General Dynamics Bath Iron Works for potential job opportunities.
