Last weekend, an 80-year-old American woman was attacked by an elephant while on a car safari in Zambia. The woman and five other tourists were chased by the elephant for hundreds of meters until the driver had to stop the vehicle due to a road blockade.
The incident occurred in the Kafue National Park in Zambia. The elephant, which had become separated from its herd, unexpectedly started chasing the tourists as they were guided through the park. One of the tourists in the car caught the chase on film before the driver had to stop the vehicle due to a road block caused by vegetation.
The elephant managed to tip over the vehicle with its tusks, resulting in the death of the 80-year-old woman and serious injuries to another tourist who had to be evacuated to a hospital in South Africa. The other tourists sustained minor injuries and are receiving trauma counseling.
