Delta vs American Airlines: A Personal Preference Comparison in Domestic Economy

2 min read

Recently, I had the chance to fly on American Airlines and Delta Air Lines in domestic economy. While both airlines offered unique experiences, my preferences differed between them. American Airlines had a better WiFi option, while Delta’s in-flight entertainment set-up was more to my liking. Despite these differences, neither airline was a dealbreaker for me. In the future, my booking decisions will be based on price and convenience.

Growing up near Tallassee, Florida’s regional airport, my family primarily flew Delta Air Lines due to limited flight options available. As an adult, I have continued to choose Delta due to their excellent customer service and on-time flights. However, recent changes to their SkyMiles program have made loyalty less important to me as it now relies on money spent rather than miles flown.

In contrast, living near New York City airports has given me more exposure to American Airlines, which has caused me to spend more time flying with them. Initially disappointed with American Airlines, I am slowly becoming a fan of the airline as I find it different yet somewhat similar to Delta in terms of quality of service and amenities offered in domestic economy class flights. Ultimately, if the price is right and both airlines meet my needs for convenience and comfort during travel, I would book with either airline again without hesitation.
