The State Bank of Israel has announced the release of commemorative coins to mark the 76th anniversary of the declaration of Independence of the State of Israel. These coins, with the slogan “Israel Together” (“Israel Beyahad”), symbolize the unity and cohesion that arose among Israelis after Black Saturday on October 7, which saw an unprecedented terrorist attack and the War of Iron Swords.
The concept for these coins was conceived by artists Tsvika Roitman and Eitan Alon. The reverse of the coins, designed by Roitman, depicts hands reaching out to each other against a pastoral picture of a kibbutz house and tractor. At the top is a large number 76, signifying the anniversary year. On the obverse, inscriptions in Hebrew, English, and Arabic complement a circle created by Alon featuring six hands holding one another.
Commemorative coins are available in denominations of 10 shekels (jewelry gold), 2 shekels (jewelry silver), and 1 shekel (plain silver). These coins will be sold by the State Coinage Company of Israel.
