Last week, College Sports Wire’s Patrick Conn identified his top breakout candidate for each Big 12 football team, selecting wide receiver Will Sheppard as the choice for the Colorado Buffaloes. Sheppard’s selection is well-justified given his performance for the Vanderbilt Commodores over the last four years. With Sheppard now in a more favorable position to showcase his skills in a pass-heavy offense led by quarterback Shedeur Sanders, expectations are high for his impact on the team.
Sheppard has proven himself to be an impressive player even though he played for Vanderbilt, a team not known for offensive prowess. In the past two seasons, he caught 107 passes for 1,460 yards and 17 touchdowns. Now that Sanders is delivering the passes, Sheppard has the opportunity to make an even greater impact in the 2024 season. It will be interesting to see how he transitions to the Buffaloes and maximizes his potential with Sanders leading the offense.
