China’s Tiangong space station has just welcomed a new crew with the successful launch of Shenzhou-18 mission. This marks a continuation of the country’s ambitious space program, which is rapidly advancing towards its goal of landing a manned expedition on the Moon by 2030 and establishing a research base on the Moon by 2050. The three astronauts, Ye Guangfu, Li Cong, and Li Guangsu, have replaced the previous members of the Shenzhou-17 mission, who completed multiple extravehicular activities and scientific experiments.
The new crew will continue the work of their predecessors, including additional extravehicular activities to install protections against space debris and conduct experiments in various scientific fields such as biology and physics in microgravity. The Shenzhou-18 mission is expected to last approximately six months, showcasing China’s efficiency and ongoing presence in space.
