On Thursday, Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs was booked and released on $600 bond following the filing of two misdemeanor warrants against him. The Tuscaloosa County (Alabama) Jail charged him with mistreating two dogs found in a screened-in back porch rented by him. The dogs, a gray and white pit bull, and a black rottweiler, were found with no access to food or water and appeared malnourished and neglected. Sadly, the pit bull had to be euthanized.
After Buggs’ release from jail, reporter Bryan Henry from WBRC asked him for a comment. However, Buggs reacted by placing his hand on the camera and saying, “Don’t walk up in front of me.” Buggs’ agent, Trey Robinson, denied the charges against Buggs and claimed that his client is a victim of an ongoing “subversive campaign” aimed at forcing the closure of the hookah lounge Buggs owns in Tuscaloosa.
Buggs is 27 years old and signed a futures contract with the Chiefs in February after being on their practice squad late last season. A court hearing has been scheduled for June 13 to address the charges against him.
