The 12th edition of The World Games is taking place in Chengdu, China, and the local organizing committee (LOC) has unveiled its logo. In December 2023, the LOC launched an international contest inviting designers from around the world to submit their ideas for the logo, mascot, and slogan. Out of 9,235 entries received from both national and international applicants, the winning design was announced on May 17, 2024.
The new logo draws inspiration from iconic Chinese symbols such as the giant panda, hibiscus flower, and Chinese knot. It reflects the history and culture of Chengdu as the host city and Sichuan Province. The Chinese knot in the center symbolizes unity, prosperity, and luck, highlighting the importance of unity and embodying the core values of The World Games.
The design seamlessly integrates these symbols into a balanced and harmonious color scheme that utilizes cool colors vertically and warm colors horizontally. This creates a sense of depth and coordination among the five colors: red, yellow, green, black, and white. With just under 450 days to go until The World Games 2025 takes place from August 7-17
