The Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway was a rollercoaster of emotions for drivers and fans alike on Sunday. While there were winners and losers, the race was full of excitement and unexpected twists. One of the biggest winners was Chase Elliott, who ended a 42-race winless drought by managing two overtime restarts and scoring his first victory since October 2022.
Hendrick Motorsports also emerged victorious with their fifth win of the season, with William Byron, Kyle Larson, and now Chase Elliott each contributing to the team’s success. However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for them as Brad Keselowski may not have had the best car, but he finished the day in second place, a key accomplishment for a driver who was outside a playoff spot going into the race.
Richard Childress Racing also found success with Austin Dillon finishing a season-best eighth and Kyle Busch placing ninth, marking the first time this year the team placed both cars in the top 10. Additionally, rookie Carson Hocevar scored his first career top 10 in the Cup series on Sunday.
On the other hand, there were some big losers from the race. Alex Bowman was a victim of an early incident and finished a disappointing 37th. This result caused him to fall from 10th to 14th in the points standings. Michael McDowell also faced disappointment after wrecking while dueling for the lead, finishing in 35th place. Finally, Ford was identified as a loser as a car manufacturer that has yet to win this season in the Cup, Xfinity or Trucks series after 24 races.
