At the Central Mass High School Sports Awards on June 26 at the Hanover Theatre, Mike Ross of West Boylston and Jensen Shipp of Sutton High School were awarded Coach of the Year for boys and girls teams, respectively.
West Boylston’s Mike Ross has been instrumental in guiding his team to numerous Super Bowl titles over the years. He played a significant role in securing their second consecutive title by leading them to a 13-0 season with a victory over Carver at Gillette Stadium. With his good coaching scheme and tough players, Ross has established himself as one of the most accomplished coaches in Central Massachusetts.
Sutton High School’s Jensen Shipp has also been recognized for her outstanding coaching skills. Under her leadership, Sutton won its third consecutive state girls soccer championship, defeating top-seeded South Hadley 2-1 in the Division 4 state final. With their impressive 17-4-2 season, Sutton established itself as one of the state’s leading soccer programs. Shipp’s leadership has helped Sutton achieve numerous Division 5 championships in recent years, adding to their legacy of success.
