Kansas City Chiefs have signed quarterback Carson Wentz to a one-year deal, as reported by Jordan Schultz of the Bleacher Report. This will be Wentz’s fifth team in five years, starting his career as the second overall pick for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2016.
Last season, Wentz spent time with the Rams and appeared in two games with one start. He completed 70.8 percent of his passes for 163 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in 2023. Despite this, Mahomes has shown durability as a starter for the Chiefs since 2018, missing only four starts during that time.
Wentz will serve as a backup to Patrick Mahomes, joining Chris Oladokun and Ian Book as the other quarterbacks on the roster. This move is expected to provide depth to the position and give Mahomes some much-needed rest during practices and games when he’s not playing.
