A Brazilian national, Fatima Boustani, is in critical condition after being injured in an attack near the Lebanese border with Israel. She is currently intubated at the Lebanese Italiano Hospital in Tire and awaiting transfer to Beirut. Fatima, who recently obtained Brazilian citizenship along with her four children, was injured along with two of them during the attack.
At the time of the bombing, Fatima and two of her children were at home while the other two were safe at their grandparents’ house. One of the children underwent two surgeries and is currently in the ICU, while the other is under observation but in stable condition. The attack has been linked to tensions between Hezbollah and the Israel Defense Forces along the border.
The Brazilian government has condemned the attack and is providing consular support to the affected family. The Brazilian Embassy in Beirut is in contact with them and the medical team.
