Brazil Set to Host 2027 Women’s World Cup: A Groundbreaking Moment for South American Soccer

Brazil has been chosen to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup, marking the first time a South American country will have the honor. This decision was made at Fifa’s congress in Bangkok, with Brazil winning the bid 119-78 over a joint bid from Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany (BNG).

Fifa president Gianni Infantino congratulated Brazil on their successful bid, stating that they would host the best World Cup. The BNG bid was also praised for their efforts. In a bid evaluation report, Brazil scored higher on technical aspects such as stadiums, accommodation, fan zones, and transport.

The president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, Ednaldo Rodrigues, expressed his excitement for the opportunity to showcase South American women’s soccer. The operational manager of Brazil’s bid team, Valesca Araujo, highlighted the goal of creating a positive impact not only for Brazil but for the entire continent.

This will be the 10th edition of the Women’s World Cup and will feature a 32-team format, following the successful tournament held in Australia and New Zealand in 2023.
