Braves’ All-Star Second Baseman Ozzie Albies Suffers Broken Toe, Placed on Injured List: Recovery Timeline Unknown

2 min read

The Atlanta Braves have placed All-Star second baseman Ozzie Albies on the injured list after he suffered a broken big toe on his right foot during a game against the Houston Astros. The injury occurred when Astros pitcher Spencer Arrighetti threw an inside curveball that hit Albies’ right foot, causing him to fall to the ground.

Albies remained in the game and even helped the Braves secure a 6-1 win. However, he was placed on the 10-day injured list the following day after it was confirmed that he had a fractured toe. At first, Albies thought he just had a deep bone bruise and didn’t realize the extent of his injury.

The X-ray revealed a visible crack in his toe, and Albies is now focused on healing quickly so he can return to the field as soon as possible. The Braves have not provided a timeline for his recovery, but they called up infielder David Fletcher to take his place on the roster.

Albies, who has been an All-Star three times in a row, had an impressive season last year with 33 home runs, 109 RBI, and 13 stolen bases. So far this season, he has been off to a strong start with two home runs, 14 RBI, and two stolen bases in 15 games. Despite this setback, Albies is determined to recover and return to playing at the high level he is known for.
