The Denver Broncos recently added UTSA defensive lineman Brandon Matterson to their roster. Standing at 6-2 and weighing 295 pounds, Matterson is a formidable force on the field. He spent five years as a senior at UTSA before joining the Broncos and has an impressive track record of performance during his time in college.
During his time at UTSA, Matterson played in 59 games and started in 20 of them. He was named a four-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll and received honors for his play in the American Athletic Conference, including a third-team All-American title in 2023. Additionally, he was listed on the Lombardi Award Midseason Watch List during his college career.
However, Matterson faces stiff competition for playing time with the Broncos. The team recently acquired John Franklin-Myers in a draft-day trade, making it more challenging for Matterson to secure a spot on the field. As the team prepares for training camp this summer, it remains to be seen how Matterson will fit into the defensive system under coordinator Vance Joseph.
