The Community Health Academy program, launched by the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health, is set to empower mayors and city officials in sixteen Idaho cities. This five-month collaborative learning experience aims to educate leaders on the critical role their cities play in building healthy communities. Local and national experts will provide insights, and cities will work together to develop programs or projects that will improve community health.
The academy’s participating cities include American Falls, Ashton, Bellevue, Bovill, Carey, Driggs, Eagle, East Hope, Firth, Lava Hot Springs, Ketchum, Marsing, Meridian, Newdale, Ponderay, and Sandpoint. This year’s program marks the largest cohort yet and was made possible by a generous donation from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott to the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health. The academy will kick off in Boise and run through October with monthly in-person and virtual sessions covering various topics related to community health, civility, childcare
